Where we work

Automation and facility control engineering in Kuching

Kuching's industrial load sits in electronics, food and utilities, where the pressure is rarely tonnage. It is traceability, change control, and utilities that are not allowed to be unavailable.

Request a plant data audit

The short version

What the plants here need

  • Semiconductor and electronics, Samajaya. Facility and utility control rather than production line control. Cleanroom air handling, chilled water, ultrapure water, process exhaust and scrubbers, compressed air and vacuum. Availability requirements are contractual and change control is strict.
  • Food and beverage. Batch control, CIP, cold chain, and traceability that has to survive an audit rather than merely exist.
  • Water and wastewater. Treatment plants and pumping stations, many unmanned and on telemetry over long distances.
  • Light manufacturing and packaging. Machine-level control, OEM equipment integration, and the line data nobody can currently get out.

The recurring problem: the data is in the machine and nowhere else

The most common request we get in this corridor is not a new control system. It is traceability, and specifically getting production data out of equipment that was installed to run, not to report.

That equipment is usually a mix of vintages and protocols, often with OEM drives and controllers speaking a vendor-specific protocol rather than anything standard, sometimes with a serial link and a converter nobody has documented. Three things decide whether the job is straightforward or difficult:

  • What the equipment can actually output. Not what the marketing sheet claims, what the installed firmware revision supports. This gets confirmed at survey, on the machine, before anything is priced.
  • Whether the protocol is standard or proprietary. An OEM drive that speaks its own protocol rather than a common industrial one needs a gateway, and that gateway is a real line item with a real integration risk. A plan that assumes standard connectivity and finds otherwise on site is a plan that doubles.
  • Who owns the change. Touching an OEM controller can affect a warranty or a validated state. That is a conversation to have before the work, not after.
When the machine will not give you the signal

Where in-process measurement is genuinely boxed out, by warranty, by validation or by physical access, the move is to read a signal the equipment already produces. Motor current, run hours, cycle timing, valve position, an existing alarm contact. It is rarely as clean as a direct measurement and it is frequently enough to answer the question that was actually asked.

What we do here

Questions we get asked

Are you based in Kuching?

Our Sarawak base is Bintulu, and we work in Kuching regularly. Attendance here is planned rather than same-day, and we quote a realistic response time rather than a generic one.

Can you work inside a cleanroom facility?

Yes, subject to the site's gowning, change control and contractor requirements. Most of what we do in these facilities is in the utility and plant rooms behind the cleanroom rather than inside it.

Can you get data out of OEM machines that do not have an open protocol?

Usually, through a gateway or by reading a signal the equipment already generates. What we will not do is promise it before confirming at survey what the installed firmware actually supports, because that is exactly where these projects overrun.

Do you support water treatment and pumping stations?

Yes, including remote and unmanned sites on telemetry. Standardising the remote site design is usually where the maintenance cost is won.

Start with the plant, not the proposal

Tell us the asset, the platform and the constraint. If it is not something we should be doing, we will say so and tell you who should.
